Unraveling Gaming's Newest Scam: Fake Sequels

There’s a few interesting trends in gaming over the past few years. Every game seems to feel the need to yoink gameplay mechanics from Dark Souls, games release as nearly unplayable only to be patched up in the coming months after everyone's moved on, and the live service model seems to be sinking its stupid teeth into every single game. Hey guys, genius idea - what if Halo had a Fortnite battl...

The Magic of Minecraft's Music | Volume Beta

Two and a half years after C418 released Minecraft’s first album, the eternal Volume Alpha, a second, longer, and paradoxically more complex album was released as a sequel to that first ensemble: Daniel Rosenfeld’s Volume Beta. On this album, you hear things you never would have expected to hear in Minecraft - new sounds, new instruments, and a tone that can put both a smile on your face or a t...
The Slow Death of Let's Play Videos
Переглядів 23 тис.2 роки тому
Let’s plays used to be the cornerstone of UA-cam. During simpler times, when video titles just had the name of a game and an episode number, let’s plays paved the way for gaming as we know it on UA-cam today, and - in many ways, for commentary content in general. Alongside a few other forms of media, let’s plays are basically the reason I’m here today. So if you’re looking for someone to blame,...
The Rise and Fall of Open World Games: A Brief History

Open-world was, and still *might be* the standard for video games. Over the past 2 decades, we’ve seen them rise to fame and dominate the single-player gaming scene. And in an unp...
A Critique of Minecraft's Crafting System

When I called Minecraft out for its crafting system in my last video, I was met with some backlash. Of course, this is expected, because people love Minecraft almost as much as I love an inconsistent upload schedule. But after reading the comments, people were actually bringing up good points, so I decided to set my pride aside and rethink my argument. Now let’s get one thing clear-I hate craft...

Minecraft: The Game That Accidentally Killed Fortnite
2011 I used to try filming the TV of my pokemon Battle Revolution online matches but the video files were too large to do anything with on my computer. My potential let's play career was over before it began.
Mr when I was young: these songs boring Me now: ……
"Dude, chek out ma epik pro dirt hous" hits hard ngl
nostalgie of Minecraft is like only a pleasure for me
This made me cry😢
mice on venus is scarily nostalgic
I had to stop playing Ghost of Tsushima. It's a movie pretending to be a game. At least let me skip it ffs!
let's plays died because nobody wants to watch 20 part series of 1 game like they used to, nowadays youtubers just pump and dump shit horror games from itch io lol, I still enjoy lets play content but I wish some youtubers would have more variety in their game selection instead of just playing cheap horror games over and over and over again. I don't think let's plays are dead they are just 1 part videos instead of many part videos with a new game in every video
For me, Minecraft has always been a game, that I will always come back to, no matter how long of a break I take. I’ve played for 10 years, and I don’t think I’ve ever stopped playing for more than 2-3 months. Minecraft, and it’s soundtrack invoke so much emotion, sadness, and nostalgia it always makes me think of the days when I’d go to bed, and be excited to wake up in the morning to watch stampy, dantdm, popularmmos etc… Minecraft has been such a huge part of my life.
I remember way back 2014 i first play minecraft server and music was all play in server was remember my memories and friend for many year 😢😢😢😢
Don't worry everyone, I'm bringing let's plays back <3
I still play play wizard, its been 14 years, idk what I'm doing anymore
Archage is now offline as of June 27, 2024
C418 is a master of music
Minecraft is not just a game it’s soundtrack
the game that made me feel lonely was interkosmos 2000, a game about space in vr. the plot is basically you have to fix the ISS because of the Y2K bug, but over time the russian, american, and german banter gets less frequent and you become alone. then you meet a polish cosmonaut who got trapped in a decommissioned space station with an AI. the ai then pairs with your ships internal AI and tries to activate a nuclear bomb that was put on you ship without the space agencies’ knowledge. the thing that makes it lonely is that, there’s no background music. and a pipe can rupture at any time and kill you if you don’t act fast. your computer can malfunction during docking and you could die. and get this, your radio is broken so you can’t even talk to ground control. your only line of communication is your ai that will tell them the good answer no matter what you say.
Bars 0:30
1:40 he’s a monster
As an FBI agent, you're clear by me.
One of the more, if not most creative game soundtrack in the current generation. Bless C418
I always saw the contrast between the first and second part of Mice on Venus as the shift between day and night. It just sounds right hiding in a dirt hole listening to the first half conclude as the sun goes down, and the second spookier bit playing as you hear zombies outside
There’s nothing better than when you’re on a mountain top, there’s a sunset, and nice on Venus starts playing
c418 is our motzart
My god... Danny, subwoofer lullaby and haggstrom have unlocked so many core memories. Back in 2011, my friend introduced me to Minecraft by inviting me to Minecraft Alpha (for 10€ back then) to visit his world with a large mining area, a phenomenal castle and so on. This game got me through so many bad and good things by just simply existing and being playable alone. Had your heart broken? Jump into Minecraft with friends and you don't think about anything for the next 10 hours, which you didn't notice because you felt comfortable, happy and complete. No game ever gives me this peace, help and fun as Minecraft does.
I can only think of 3 games where the music is essential. Doom, Cuphead and of course Minecraft
If someone says to me that this game is one of their favorite games. I will just walk away cuz i think you are crazy
I don't know who's that idi...who play that game.
Fucking ai
Whenever i walk near my parrot’s grave in my minecraft server sad music starts playing
Reminds me of Counter Strike Source. I played that game for thousands of hours and eventually all the servers I used to play on closed down (this being ye olde dayes of public servers, when people paid money for their own servers instead of them being run by the publisher). We got a sequel which is still going to this day but source just felt like a better game to me, even if its just the nostalgia talking.
If you could go back, what would you change?
Minecraft music created nostalgia outta thin air , only after some time passed i associated music with the experience of the game
I’ve felt the first series as you said, but the second seemed to me more like a melody I hear from distance in a forest and accompanies my adventure. Then the forth series is more narrative, I imagine me playing Minecraft with that one.
Nice quickscopes (I haven't watched the video)
BDO stood the test of time, thriving and standing strong, proving to be superior game in every aspec to AA. AA is being put from its misery next week. As it deserves.
8:20 I think these floating trees fuck up the message that's being conveyed here. They're very Minecraft, but not by this song. The song fits traveling through a desert or tundra that never seems to end in a previous version where that was a thing.
I so glad that in December of 2023, Minecraft Volume was awarded a golden record.
21:44 Spanish waltz from castlecrashers
Thank you meraki you made me so happy I remember the go village and the pillager update 😢
When he said that the 3 original music supposed to be sad since the original game was lonely, my whole body had chills and I was shook about the music
The worst ones are the ones that force you to watch the same cut scene everytime you die. And you have to traverse after the cut scene just to get back to the boss that you were fighting and that boss has like 3 fazes of boss battles. After the 8th time of watching the same cutscene, it makes me wanna jump off a cliff. Why can't video games just do a loading page and jump me right back into the boss battle, why do they make you rewatch the cutscenes 10th time 15th time and instead of you continuing right off where you died, they waste your time making you have to traverse and then got through all the fazes of the boss battle all over again. So frustrating.
what a phenomenal video Meraki ! thank you for this breakdown !
WOW did not pioneer MMO’s UO and EQ did
I love cutscenes in games
2:15 you and me both
I’ve been playing Minecraft since I was four and can safely say that Haunt Muskie is my favorite Minecraft song. For me, it feels like it tells a whole story within itself. And that beat drop hits so hard.
Nice
Not trying to make it seem horrible or something, but a video by Barnes from 6 months ago seems to be using the same assets and ideas as this video. Idk, I still prefer this masterpiece of a video, not with all the sound effects and attention-grabbing stuff that is in newer videos.
Age
Bro first of all HOW DOES THIS NOT HAVE 100K VIEWS!!?? Second, i was surprised you didnt put subnatica on this list as that is a pretty popular lonely game.
